Thinking of joining?

The honest version of what BoomChik is, what stays yours, and what to expect. Still have a question? Join the waiting list and ask.

The basics

What is BoomChik?
A website for musicians built around a “living catalog”: a browsable page per song, each with its own audio, creation story, gear, liner notes, lyrics, and a timeline of versions. It also builds you a fan list and shows simple stats. It’s a place to present your music and grow an audience, not a distributor or a store.
Who is it for?
The studio creator: someone who wants to tell the story around their music, not just drop tracks into a feed. If you care about the how and why of a song, not only the final master, it’s built for you.
How is it different from SoundCloud, Bandcamp, or a link-in-bio?
Those give you a fixed profile and a stream of tracks, or a list of links, so you’re one artist in someone else’s catalog, with an algorithm and “recommended artists” pulling your fans elsewhere. BoomChik is your own site: every song gets its own page, and your fans are yours, with nothing steering them away. It’s complementary, and many artists run both.

What’s yours

Do I own my music and content?
Yes. You own everything you upload. You give BoomChik permission to host and show it so your page works, and nothing more.
Is BoomChik a backup of my files?
No. Treat it as a presentation layer, not an archive. Keep your own originalsof your audio, images, and lyrics. Don’t rely on BoomChik as the only home for a file you can’t lose.
Can I take my fans with me if I leave?
Yes. The audience is yours. Export your confirmed email list (and each fan’s points and verification state) as CSV or JSON any time. That’s your fan data, not a downloadable copy of your bio or media, which you supply and keep the originals of.
Can I email my fans from BoomChik?
Not from inside BoomChik, by design. We don’t run marketing email. BoomChik confirms fans’ emails and builds you a verified list; you take that list to your own email provider to send newsletters. It keeps us out of your inbox and out of spam management.

Privacy & your page

Can I keep my site private while I get it ready?
Yes. A brand-new site starts private: visitors see a simple “coming soon” page and only you can preview the real thing. You can also password-protect it to show close friends, or flip it fully public the moment you’re ready.
Can I share one song from a private site without revealing the rest?
Yes. A private track’s share link works even while your whole site is private, so the person sees exactly that track, no catalog, no “coming soon” detour. You can make several named links per track (say one called “KKRD Rock Radio”), see how many times each one was opened, give it an expiry date, and revoke any of them at any time. A link even works on a public track, to let someone skip a points unlock. Private and password sites are also hidden from Google and link previews.
What’s my web address?
Each artist gets your-name.boomchik.app, which you choose. Bringing your own custom domain is planned, not self-serve yet.

Fans, gating & stats

How do fans unlock gated tracks or comment?
They verify their email once with a 4-digit code, no password. That unlocks gated content and commenting, and adds them to your confirmed fan list.
Can fans install my page like an app?
Yes. Every artist site is a PWA. A fan can install it to their phone home screen, where it gets your icon and name and opens full-screen like a native app, with no app store and nothing to download. It updates itself whenever you post.
What stats do I get?
An Insights tab with live day/week/month numbers: page views, plays, and email signups, plus a “top pages” breakdown per song. Page-view counting is cookieless, with no per-visitor tracking.

Cost & joining

What does it cost?
It’s free while we’re in private beta. When we open up, pricing is simple and flat: a low monthly price with more room as you grow, and we never take a cutof anything you make. We’ll share the plans well before anyone is ever charged.
How do I join?
BoomChik is invite-only right now. We’re letting artists in a few at a time. Join the waiting list and we’ll send an invite as spots open up.
